Obituaries BARUSKA Nelson Albert Nelson Albert Baruska, late of Chilliwack, B.C., formerly of Manitoba, passed away June 7, 1999 in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 77.

He was born June 23, 1921 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and had lived in this area for 23 years. Nelson served with the Canadian Army in World War Il and later joined the RCAF and finished his career as a Stationary Engineer at CFB Chilliwack until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed his volunteer work with the Chilliwack Junior Pipeband and the Legion Branch Pipeband. He loved gardening, his trips to Reno and spent many "fun" hours playing crib with his buddies. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 11, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Henderson's Funeral Home. Major Angus Haggarty officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack. Honorary Bearers: The Chilliwack and District Bagpipe Band and The Royal Canadian Legion Branch Chilliwack.

Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gerry; his children: Shirley (Francis), Robert (Janet); Brian (Linda); 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Katherine; 2 brothers, Norm and Charlie and 2 sisters, Olga and Sabina. Ron was born in Liverpool, England and emigrated to Canada with his parents in 1930. He grew up in Montreal, PQ, and was a graduate of Montreal Tech. Ron developed an early interest in aviation and was a member of the U.S. Institute of Aeronautical Sciences and a flying officer in the RCAF His main career was in corporate property management.

He retired as Vice Director of Real Estate with Household HAGAN Ronald George Ronald George Hagan International in Toronto, then relocated to B.C., where he spent a decade as an economic development professional based in Chilliwack, Fernie, and a last contract in Powell River before finally retiring several years ago. Ron was active in the Economic Development Associations of America, B.C. Canada, Pacific Northwest, and the B.C. Aviation Council. Ron enjoyed landscape photography.

He loved Canada, and had travelled from the Labrador Coast to Vancouver Island. Cremation with no service at Ron's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation. Woodlawn Mt.
