Jeff Glowa scored with 36 seconds remaining in the game to give Cowichan Valley the win. J.C. Larocque scored a pair for the Cents, while Brian Grycan scored twice for the Caps. Surrey 3 al Royal City Grant McLellan scored once and added three helpers, and Captain Chris Walby scored a pair including the winner as Royal City defeated Surrey in the Outlaws' home opener. Jason Cugnet kicked out 38 Eagle attempts in securing the victory.

Penticton 5 at Trail 4 (shoot-nut) Penticton scored an exciting shoot-out win in Trail. Shawn McCann scored twice for the Smokies, while Ryan Bechard did the same for the Panthers. Sunday Cowichan Valley 4 at Langley 7 Randy Toye scored once and added four assists to lead Langley to a 7-4 win over Cowichan Valley.

Home Life Realty (Gerry Thomson) Royals were crowned league and playoff champions for women. The needed an extra inning 8-5 win over the Athletics to win the playoff title. It marked the first win of the season over the Athletics for the Royals, which had also lost to them earlier in the tournament played Saturday and Sunday at Monarch and Fraser Park. On the men's side, the Major League Hustlers capped a undefeated season with the A playoff title.

The playoff title went to regular-season second-place finishers Home Life Realty (Gerry Thomson). Also being credited with scoring points (assists) were Krissy Murphy and Janet Adam.

Daris Lapointe recorded the shutout as the Tillicums improved their record to 4-0. Next up for the Tillicums is Maple Ridge Senior Secondary tomorrow. Cheam curling club hosting lessions The Cheam Curling Club at CFB Chilliwack will be hosting a beginners and intermediate Curl Canada Clinic on Oct. 14. All curlers are welcome to sign up by calling 858-3914 and leaving a name and phone number.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $15. The Cheam Curling Club sitll has some openings in leagues, which start Oct. 3.

The club has a Monday night junior league and invites all junior age curlers to join up for a seasonal fee of $32.10. Call 858-3914 and leave a message for Brad Shannon. The club will also be holding three bonspiels and invite all curlers to enter a team. The women's 'spiel will be held Nov. 24-26, men's Jan.

12-14 and mixed bonspiel Feb. 23-25. Merritt goaltender player of the week Jason Tapp of the Merritt Centennials has been chosen the B.C. Junior Hockey League player of the week, ending Oct. The 17-year-old two-year veteran goaltender set a new league record this week when he did not allow a goal in 145 minutes, 43 seconds.
