THE WEEKENDER Russ Ullyot -I Sports Reporter 0, rHangin' on 1(0 Ditch Swinging co-eds go to bat for B.C. titles Six local teams will be among 48 to compete at the Slo-pitch Nationals B.C. Co-ed Provincials in Chilliwack this weekend.

The championships, which will decide the province's 'C, 'D' and 'Rec' division titlists run Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 22-23) at five venues and 12 diamonds. All 12 diamonds will be in use Saturday Fraser Park, Monarch Park, two at Vedder Junior, two in the Chilliwack Exhibition Oval and six at Townsend Park with action being reduced to Fraser, Monarch and Townsend on Sunday. All semifinals and finals will be contested at Townsend Park on Sunday afternoon." The 48 teams will be divided into 12 pools of four teams each. A round robin will be played within each grouping.

The top two teams will advance to the 'C playoffs, with the third-place team going to the 'D' playoffs and the fourth-place club relinguished to the 'Rec' playoffs. All playoff games are single-knockout. On Sunday, the 'Rec' final is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., the 'D' final is set for 2 p.m. and the 'C final slated for 3:30 p.m. Local entries include Artistic Tile Athletics, Talisman Panthers, Glasshoppers, O'Connor Broos, Signmakers and Paller Farms.

Other entries in the tournament include two from Victoria and Courtney, one from Port McNeill, one from Quesnel, one from Kamloops, one from Summerland and the remainder of teams from the Fraser Valley and Vancouver.
