Kosub medalled in the VeteransMasters individual time trial, completing a hilly 40-kilometre course in a time of 56 minutes, 50 seconds. Empress-Delta third at provincials Empress-Delta placed third at the B.C. Masters Softball Championships played in Vancouver July 18-19. The Chilliwack-based Oldtimers fast pitch team finished behind provincial champions Victoria PayLess and the New Westminster Old Stylers. In the tournament, Empress-Delta defeated Port Alberni 8-1 and Delta Sar Majors 7-0.

The Chilliwack side then lost 7-0 to Victoria and were sent packing from the tournament by an 11-5 loss to New Westminster. Stan Wiens belted three home runs for Empress one in each of the first three games and Jim Raymond tossed the shutout victory. In Empress-Delta's final game of the tourney, the team led 5-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth, but then surrendered three home runs and eight runs. Football returns to Chilliwack The Chilliwack Greyhawks will tackle the Langley Outlaws Sunday (Aug. 9) at 2 p.m.

at A.D. Rundle Junior Secondary. The exhibition Bantam football encounter is the inaugural game for the new Chilliwack Minor Football Association. The team will be competing in the Vancouver Mainland Football Association this season. Muggers take first-place trophy Friendly Mikes Muggers rolled Rudi Sports of Agassiz, running off with a 7-2 victory and the playoff tournament championship for the Chilliwack Slo-pitch League on July 26.

The Muggers, first-place finishers in the regular season at 23 wins and three losses, reached the championship final by clobbering the Signmakers 14-5 in the A final. Rudi then bested the Signmakers 14-11 in the final to gain the other championship game berth. Airport Flyers edged Rosedale Pub 5-4 for the consolation banner and were also named the most sportsmanlike team. Classic Mini Sprints clash at Mission There's action under the lights Saturday (Aug. 8) at Mission Raceways.

The Mini Sprints return to compete in the third annual Coke Classic. All of the local favorites will be battling wheel to wheel with Washington drivers for the prize money. The action gets under way at 7:30 p.m. For the runner's record A story in the July 22 edition of the Chilliwack Progress stated that Nola Patterson had finished first overall in the North Shore Knee Knackering Run and Marcia Winger first Master Female, and that Patterson had crossed the finish line first despite both runners posting identical times. The two runners, however, crossed the finish line at the same moment, holding hands, tying for first place overall.

In the distribution of awards, Patterson was given the first overall award and Winger the Master award. LuckyN DOLLARj Little Masters tee up for the 'green jacket' fund set up to help promote junior golf in Chilliwack. The tournament begins on Tuesday (Aug. 11) at Wayside Golf Course, located along the Trans Canada Highway west of Chilliwack. On Wednesday, Aug.

12 the tournament moves to Meadowlands Golf Course. The third round will be played Thurds-day, Aug. 13 at Chilliwack Golf and Country Club. The final round will be played Friday, Aug. 14 at Aquadel Golf Course.

The Fraser Valley Little Masters tees off next week. The golf tournament, for boys and girls ages 11 through 17, is an annual 72-hole event that pits players on four area courses in a four-day period. This year more than 50 participants are expected to tee-off in pursuit of the 'green jacket', trophies and prizes.
