Here Dave Dhat pets the crow as it perches atop a classroom computer. Principal William Goerzen says the bird has popped into the school from time to time. He said it appears completely tame and must have been someone's pet. The crow left on further travels after posing for photOS.

The four candidates thus declared for Fraser Valley East are Ross Belsher (Progressive Conservative), Janet Chisholm (Liberal), Don Olds (New Democrat), and Ray Renwick (Reform Party). Val Buchanan, campaign manager for MP Ross Belsher, denied Tuesday that he has refused to attend all-candidates meetings. Buchanan stated, however, that Belsher is running on a tight schedule. "The problem is he is still the MP, so if there is a conflict, he can't be cut in two.

"He still serves the people who elected him, so there is a fair bit of constituency work still being done," she Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce is seeking to schedule a meeting for early November. Manager Laverne Roberts said they want the meeting to be held in the gymnasium at A.D. Rundle Junior Secondary, but that date could not be confirmed Tuesday. at W.J. Mouat Secondary School in Mat-squi, organized by the Ab- EVERTJE van de LAGEMAAT Evertje van de Lagemaat, late of 113 8920 Broadway Chilliwack, passed away Sept. 30, 1988 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 83. She was born March 30, 1905, at Scherpenzeel, Holland. She was a housewife.

Funeral service was held Oct. 3, from the chapel of Henderson's Funeral Home with Rev. Gerrit Kuyt officiating. Interment was at the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Casketbearers were Martin Lagemaat, Wulfert van de Lagemaat, John Lagemaat, Lionel Cyr, Tim Lagemaat, and Ted van de Lagemaat.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Martin and Esther Lagemaat of Williams Lake, Wulfert and Henrietta van de Lagemaat of Sardis, John and Catharina Lagemaat of Chilliwack; daughter and son-in-law Cornelia and Lionel Cyr of Port Hardy; 13 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Henderson's Funeral Home, Chilliwack, in care of arrangements. PHYLLIS MARY HANSELL (nee HEGGS) Phyllis Mary Hansell (nee Heggs), passed away Oct.

9, 1988 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 78. A service will be held Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at the Sr. Citizen's Recreation Centre, corner of College and Victoria.

She was born June 9, 1910 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. She came to Canada, to Winnipeg in 1920 and married Frederick Edward 'Bus' Hansell on June 22, 1935. She was very athletically inclined, winning four cups in Western Canada for sprinting and including the Agrigate Cup for all distances and the Molly Star Memorial Cup in 1934. She won awards in snow shoeing with the Onwego Woman's Club in the early 1930s. She played tennis, skiied, and speed skated, and was the captain of the baseball team for Isaac Brock School.

She was also a semi-professional dancer. He was the son of the late Capt.

N.H.C. and Elizabeth Van Baaren of Bussum, Holland. He was born in Schoonhoven, Holland, Aug. 24, 1910, the twin of the late Arnold 'Mac' Van Baaren of Chilliwack who predeceased him by four years. He was also predeceased by his sister Cisca, and older brother Nick in Holland.

Dick served overseas on a Dutch oiltanker for five years during the Second World War. He leaves to mourn his passing, a nephew Michael Lensen of Vancouver; nephew Bob Van Baaren and wife Mitzi of Vernon; niece Sylvia and husband Dorl of Kamloops; sister-in-law Gladys of Chilliwack; and by several stepchildren. Dick had worked for Haas Hop Yards for several years when he lived in the Chilliwack area. In later years, he moved to Lillooet where he worked for the P.G.E. Railroad until his retirement.

26, 1988, at Vancouver Children's Hospital, as a result of an accident near Quesnel, at age 7. He was born in Mackenzie, B.C. He is survived by his mother Lynn of Quesnel; sisters Dana and Jennifer both at home; maternal grandparents Freida and Harry Weber of Quesnel; paternal grandmother Bertha Schwehr of Chilliwack; several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral service was at Quesnel Funeral Home. Interment at Quesnel Cemetery.

DORIS TOUZEAU Doris Touzeau, late of 46721 Hope River Chilliwack, and formerly of North Vancouver, passed away Oct. 8, 1988 at Chilliwack General Hospital. She was born in Portsmouth, England. She was a homemaker who enjoyed music, oil painting, needle work, and gardening.

Graveside service will be held Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Rev. Reid Fowler officiating. She is survived by her husband Henry; and by her brother-in-law Arthur of Delta.

During the 1950s, Phyllis was the chaplain for the Eastern Star Burrard Lodge 50. 'Bus' and Phyllis travelled extensively. They have lived in Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, and Mexico. She was well-loved by everyone. She is survived by her husband 'Bus'; brother Arthur Sutton of England; six nieces; and 15 nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Heggs, and by her brother Charles Heggs. VERNON JOHN SCHWEHR Vernon John Schwehr, late of Quesnel, passed away Oct. 3, 1988, in Prince George Hospital, as a result of an accident Sept.

25. He was 32. He was born May 29, 1956 in Chilliwack. He attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic School, and was a graduate of Chilliwack Senior Secondary.

He was also a graduate of BCIT. He is survived by his wife Lynn of Quesnel; daughters Dana and Jennifer at home; mother Bertha Schwehr of Chilliwack; brothers Andy of Edmonton, Larry of Chilliwack; sister Margaret of Vancouver; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral service was held Oct. 6 in Quesnel Funeral Home. Cremation.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Vancouver Children's Hospital. JAKOB KORNELSEN Jakob Kornelsen, late of Abbotsford, passed away Oct. 3, 1988 at Menno Hospital, at age 93. He was formerly of Yarrow for 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife Maria of Abbotsford; sons and daughters-in-law Peter and Maria of Germany, Jacob and Vera of Russia; daughters and sons-in-law Susie and Jakob Delisky-Laske of Germany, Sara and Peter Regehr of Germany; step-daughter Clara and her husband Henry Peters of Yarrow; sister Anny Bachman and her husband Nick of Richmond; many grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; nieces; nephews, and friends.

Funeral service was held Oct. 7, from Yarrow United Mennonite Church, with Pastor John Unrau officiating. Interment was at Yarrow Cemetery. Woodlawn Funeral Home in care of arrangements. WILLIAM GEORGE LEONARD 'GERRY' WILLIAMS Sr.

William George Leonard 'Gerry' Williams late of 45489 Kipp Chilliwack, passed away Oct. 6 1 9 8 8 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 76. He was born Feb. 18, 1912, at London, England. williams Gerry was a retired military musician.

He served with the British army for 26 years, having joined the service as a boy of 14. Until his retirement in 1952, Gerry was a member of H.M. Royal Household Cavalry mounted band, The Life Guards. In 1953, he joined the Canadian army as a member of the Royal Canadian Artilery band in Halifax. In 1958, he and his family moved to Chilliwack where he was a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers band until retirement in 1963.

He was a Chilliwack resident for 30 years. He enjoyed his family and his music. He was also a member of the Good News Choir. Mass of Christian burial was held Oct. 11, from St.

Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Father Tim McCarthy officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Prayers were said Oct. 10.

Active casketbearers were Ed Murphy, Bruce Butcher, Sid Ritchie, Ted Batty, Charlie Pettifour, and Joe Slyth. Honorary bearers were Maurice Buckley, and Dick Butcher. He is survived by his wife Alice; son and daughter-in-law Gerry and Sharon Williams Jr. of Chilliwack; daughters and son-in-law Margaret and Bruce Butcher of Chilliwack, Kathy Reddekop of Chilliwack; grandchildren Mark and Kelly Williams, Gordon and Bryan Reddekop, and Jason and Leanna Butcher. He was predeceased by his son John in 1946.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the B.C. Heart Fund. Henderson's Funeral Home, Chilliwack, in care of arrangements. MARY JOSEPHINE HALSALL Mary Josephine Halsall, late of 7257 Glenwood Agassiz, and formerly of Chilliwack, passed away Oct. 8, 1988 at her residence, at age 93.

She was born March 31, 1895 at Beamsville, Ont. She was a retired housewife. In 1904, she and her parents moved to Edmonton. In 1919, she married Edward Halsall. In 1934, she and Edward moved to Chilliwack where they opened a jewelry store named Ed Halsall Watchmaker and Jeweller, which later expanded to.
