It is operated by a Native Indian staff and first opened its doors for business on Feb. 13, 1981. The idea of having a store began when the staff of the Mission Indian Friendship Centre saw the potential from the amount of crafts and used clothing coming in. They applied for and received a Canada Community Development Grant to get it started.
