6A THE CHILLIWACK PROGRESS, Wednesday, October 21, 1981 Famous Craftsman CJSS week 'eventful' RJSS rolled at Lynden VJSS skates power tools jcRBFTSMBM. VJSS newt By Jeanelte Love On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Vedder Junior Secondary School held its first annual roller skating party. This year the school went to JJ's in Abbotsford. There were 148 students who bought tickets, but not all of them were able to go due to a field hockey or soccer game against Agassiz right after school.

The buses departed from the school at approximately 4:30 p.m., and arrived' in Abbotsford around 5 p.m. There were only a few activities this time at JJ's which included, couples, trios, and speed skating for both boys and girls. Teachers also participated in the activity and acted as supervisors. The buses departed from JJ's at approximately 7 p.m. Most of the people had a good time and hope to go again later on during the school year.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the CJSS Junior soccer and grasshockey teams each travelled to Vedder Junior to take part in two games, one of which produced a winning score of 1-0 for the boys, and the other a 3-0 defeat for the girls. At the same time in home games our Bantam teams also took on Vedder. The boys team managed to come up with a 0-0 tie, while our girls were defeated by a score of 2-1. At home on Thursday, our junior boys played against Hope and managed to defeat them with a devastating score of 10-0.

After school on Thursday, a basketball clinic, sponsored by 'Athletes in Action' was held, and all those students with hopes of being on the school's basketball teams for this year were encouraged to attend. The clinic proved to be successful and much enjoyed by all participants. Over the weekend, volunteers from our school's music department took part in a fund-raising bottle drive. All proceeds from it are to be put towards new uniforms for our choir. CJSS news By Carolyn Charlton This last week at CJSS was short but eventful.

Activities included a basketball clinic for team hopefuls, and our music department fund raising Bottle Drive. Following the long weekend, students returned their first interim reports which were issued last Friday. During previous years these reports were only required for certain students, but because of a switch from a four to a three-term schedule, report cards are being distributed less frequently, an are therefore necessary for everyone. The interims are designed to inform parents of their child's progress, midway through each term. Parents wishing to discuss their child's achievement with subject teachers were welcome to attend a "Parent-Teachers" meeting last Wednesday evening.

The response overall was quite good, and those parents attending used the opportunity to become better acquainted with the teachers of CJSS. real live band from Kelowna, but it is not arranged yet. The student council is seriously thinking about it though. It will be in the evening. There will be food and we will have to dress semi-formal but we will let you know more when we know ourselves.

Last Tuesday, Rosedale junior boys' soccer team played Hope at Hope and defeated them 4-1: Mark Jones scored two, Scott Hicks scored one and Stuart Atkinson scored another goal, Don Martens did an excellent job as goalie. Our Bantam boys played well but unfortunately, lost. Last Wednesday Rosedale played Sardis. The junior girls hockey team won in grasshockey against Sardis with a score of 4-1. Karina Verdonk played excellently getting three goals.

Debbie Korbeld played very well, too, getting the other goaL Our junior boys defeated Sardis in soccer with a score of 3-0. Don Martins got a shut-out in goal. By Kim Kelly and Sherry Short Thursday was Rosedale's school roller skating trip, to Lynden. We left Rosedale at 6 p.m. and got to the Lynden roller skating rink at 7:20 and skated till 9:20.

At school on Friday everyone was limping around with blisters all over their feet, but they said it was worth it. It turned out very successfully; even the teachers got out there and skated around the rink a few times. Those accompanying us were Miss Stewart, Mr. Skonberg, Mr. Richardson and Mr.

Epp. We wouldn't have been able to go if it wasn't for them and we thank them very much. Rosedale also thanks president Rhonda Forrest for organizing this very well. At the end of October Rosedale will be having a Halloween Soc-hop. If students dress up it will only cost 50 cents, if they don't, it costs a dollar.

In the middle of December Rosedale hopefully will be having a Christmas Prom, with a Save 3J Craftsman chain saws for every cutting job Save s40.
