Miss Steuart is the daughter of Mrs. Eva Steuart and the late J. Alan Steuart of West Summerland. Rev. H.

R. Whitmore officiated at the ceremony in St. Andrew's United church when the bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Roy F. Steuart. The groom's sister, Miss Wilma played the nuptial music.

OFFICERS ELECTED Mrs. S. Pugh, nominating convener, presented the slate of officers for 1953, elected unanimously. They include Mrs. Charles Dodimead, regent; Mrs.

W. R. Gilbert, honorary regent; Mrs. Howard Johnson, first vice regent; Mrs. Frank Hall, second vice regent; Mrs.

J. Pozer, secretary; Mrs. J. W. Phillipson, treasurer; Mrs.

A. R. Gordon, educational secretary; Mrs. E. Budd, standard bearer; Mrs.

Harry Fulton, Echoes secretary; councillors, Mrs. O. F.Meil-icke, Mrs. Percy Bygott, Mrs. H.

W. Stirling, Mrs. R. Haugh, Mrs. S.

Lowry. Presentations were made to Mrs. Johnson as hostess by Mrs. Meil-icke, while Mrs. Budd gave a token of appreciation to Mrs.

Phillipson, treasurer. Mrs. Dodimead was presented with a corsage and gift in recognition of her efforts during the year. Other corsages were given to Mrs. E.

Budd, Mrs. J. C. Mac-Donald and Mrs. J.

The secretary's report read by Mrs. H. Fulton in the absence of Mrs. J. Pozer presented an overall picture 'of the chapter's varied interests.

Detailed accounts were given in the reports of the committee conveners. Mrs. A. R. Gordon, educational convener, told of the adopted school at Riske Creek which had received books, school supplies, sports equipment, treats at valentines and Christmas.

Clothing had been sent to a child whose home was destroyed by fire. Mrs. J. C. MacDonald's report on services at home and abroad told of quilts, knitted and used clothing valued at $119 shipped overseas.

Food parcels costing $45 had been sent to Britain and to the "Save the Children" adoptee. Many cigarettes had been sent to Korea and a Christmas parcel to Britcom hospital in Japan. MANY DONATIONS Donations to various charities included the British and European Relief fund. Seamen's Amenities, British Sailors' society, the Solarium for Crippled Children, Community Chest, Girl Guides, de-Zwart fund, upkeep of the IODE hospital ward and gifts to Coqua-leetza patients. Mrs.

Frank Hall had sent cigarettes regularly to a patient in Allco veteran's infirmary. A wTeath had been placed on the cenotaph on Remembrance day. In co-operation with the Public Health Nurses' Auxiliary, funds fort garry "Elements of Riding" by R. S. Summerhays might be of interest to young riders who are learning the fine points of horsemanship.

Information on care and training is simply given, by one who has had years of experience and who feels that a dog, when properly trained, makes an ideal companion.

During the month of January a total of 5,251 books were marked out for home reading, which is 1,147 more than in any other month of which we have record.

Monthly records on file here cover only the past five years so we cannot tell If it is an all-time high, but we suspect it is. Yes, we have a book on the Royal Tour. "Qucien Elizabeth II" includes photographs of the Canadian tour, and will be held in the library as a reference book until present pressure of requests is over contest enthusiasts please note. Ask for it at the desk. Some zealous members of the Home Nursing group are adding to their knowledge through Florence Dakin's "Simplified Nursing." The library also has books on First Aid and control of fires.

To members of the newly-formed Archery club, we would mention that "The Archer's Craft" by A. E. Hodgkin is in circulation here, and that "New Archery" by P. H. Gordon has been sent for.

"Vincent Van Gogh in Full Colour" will bring inspiration to the apparently increasing number of individuals interested in the art of painting, or to those who simply enjoy paintings. It is a feast in colour. "Creating Hooked Rugs" by V. B. Underhill and A.

J. Burke has a new approach to an old craft. Detailed instructions in design, a guide to colours, and humorous illustrations are a few features of this moedrn book.
