T. McCammon Monday night, when he presented his list of standing committees to 'the 1952 city council. Alderman W. H. Young, who had been charged with traffic administration as part of the street committee' last year, was placed in charge of the new committee.

Reeve Richardson congratulated Judge Grimmett on his appointment to the bench and addressing members of council said "You have all worked with me before in a harmonious way except Mr. Barker (elected to council during the period when Mr.

Richardson was not in office.) We are all here to work harmoniously and diligently in the best interests of the municipality. We must take our responsibilities seriously and do our best if we do that, there will not be any friction on the council this year." Mtes bottle The new year was ushered in with festivity at the Harrison Spa. At midnight the Copper room was filled to capacity.

Led by a "Hieland piper" a parade which consisted of cooks and waitresses bearing the boar's head and other delicacies and dressed as Uncle Sam, John Bull, Father Time and little 1952, proceeded from the kitchen to the Copper rdom arriving on the hour' of midnight. At 1:30 a.m. New-Year's breakfast was served in the beautiful Gardenia room and until the early morning pipers and Hieland dancers entertained the guests with music and Scottish dances. In other parts of Harrison there were a number of private parties and a public dance in the old community hall. The New Year's dance in the new community hall was cancelled owing to cold weather.

Police report no trouble on New Year's night. Mr. and Mrs. I. J.

Harrison school re-opened again 29 49 45 13's Monday, January 7, the new addition taking grades 3 and 4 which formerly attended Agassiz school. The majority of the logging camps on Harrison Lake are not expected to start operations for some time. D. After the New Year the Harrison Hot Springs hotel reduced its staff to a minimum and will operate in this manner for the next few weeks. The past two weeks have been a strenuous period for motorists in this vicinity. Snow and icy roads have been the cause of several minor accidents. No injuries have been reported.

Miss Greta Strom, who has been in Seattle and Vancouver holidaying for the past month, spent the past week in Harrison at Deer Lodge hotel.
