THE CHILLIWACK PROGRESS, Wednesday, a time for changes New ideas, new plans were a major part of February in Chilliwack. Work was well under way for the Rotary Club's Bell Slough clean up program and YM-YWCA headquarters sent Ed Ewen to the community to assist in the Chilliwack Y's building campaign. Also during the month Jacques Trividic arrived to pave the way for opening the student Manpower centre. Protests were launched in the Chilliwack area over the increased car insurance rates and local motorists took part in a protest cavalcade to Vancouver. Funeral service was held December 23 in the chapel of Henderson's Funeral Home with Rev. E. L. Wilkin officiating. Interment followed in the IOOF cemetery.

Pallbearers, members of Excelsior Lodge Oddfellows, were George Clark, William Dyble, John Ferguson, Ed Wilson and Alvin Aitken. Mrs. Bellerose was born on January 6, 1898 in Dartford, England. She came to Chilliwack from Ladner in 1948 and resided here until 1965 when she moved back to Delta. She worked at the Coqualeetza Hospital in Sardis for 15 years.

Mrs. Bellerose is survived by one daughter, Doris Church; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Irene Chapman, Chilliwack and Dorothy Robinson, Vancouver; two brothers, Lawrence Hayes, Chilliwack and Harry Hayes, Vancouver. Her husband Arthur died in 1946. BERT LOVELL HAYES Rev. B.

B. Smyth officated at the funeral service held for Bert Lovell Hayes of Bradley Centre, who died December 19 in Chilliwack General Hospital. Service was held December 22 in the chapel of Henderson's he Funeral Home. Interment was December 23 at Valleyview Cemetery in Agassiz. Pallbearers were Jack Miller, Darcy Morrow, Charles Edmondson, Bob Chapman, Art Bellamy and Reg Stubbs.

Mr. Hayes was born November 28, 1895 in Kent, England. He lived in Chilliwack for the past six years and was also a former resident of this district, prior to moving to Agassiz in 1932. He was a retired farmer and member of Branch 32, Agassiz, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by two brothers, Lawrence of Chilliwack and Harry of Vancouver; two sisters, Irene Chapman, Chilliwack and Dorothy Robinson, Vancouver.

Mr. Hayes was predeceased by three brothers, George, Dennis and Fred, and one sister, Betty Foote. Another sister, Gladys Bellerose, died two days after Mr. Hayes' death. PETER PAULS Former Yarrow resident Peter H.

Pauls, 32910 Brundige Avenue, Abbotsford, died December 20 at Menno Hospital, aged 90. Mr. Pauls was born in South Russia and had lived in Abbotsford for seven years. He was a farmer. He is survived by his wife Helena; one daughter, Mary Janzen, Richmond; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one son, John, -Obituaries- ries- Creek: one daughter, Marion Berg, Dawson Creek: eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; one brother, Clifford, Lethbridge, Alberta, and one sister, Florence Burton, North Pine, B.C. Funeral will be held Thursday at Henderson's Funeral Home with Pastor William Brown officiating. Interment follows at the Legion cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ervin Demerse, Maurice Hanley, Orville Ruetz, Archie Tullock, Edward Roberge and Chad Clay. VEDDER JAMES MILLER Vedder James Miller, who died December 9, was survived by five sisters, Bessie Moore, Chilliwack, Lucinda Nazarino, Rosedale, Doreen LaMarsh, Chilliwack, Ada Woodley, Ganges, Elda Gaines, Chilliwack: two brothers, Weldon Miller, Hope, and Victor, Rosedale.

He was predeceased by his brother Ottie in 1971. Other information about Mr. Miller was published in last week's edition of The Progress. CHARLES COX A Chilliwack resident for 36 years, Charles Pretoria Cox, a resident of Bradley Centre, Chilliwack General Hospital, died December 25 at his residence. He was 91.

Born at Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Mr. Cox came to Canada in 1906. He served overseas with the Canadian army in World War One from 1915 to 1919 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4. He is formerly of 505 Princess December 29, 1976 3A Avenue and lived in Craik, Saskatchewan from 1921 to 1940. He was a farmer.

Mr. Cox is survived by one daughter, Gladys Kipp, Chilliwack: one sister, Louise Roff, Leighton Buzzard, England. He was predeceased by his wife Edith in July, 1969. Graveside service was held Tuesday with Rev. Bill Perry officiating.

Interment followed in the Legion cemetery. Pallbearers were Vic Brown, Alvin Webb, Howard Richert and Harvey Kipp. Henderson's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. WILLIAM WARAWA William Warawa, who died December 19, was survived by his sisters, Mary Salahab, Grand Forks, and Vicki Seibert, Taber, Alberta. He was predeceased by his sister, Stella Kibsey in 1975.

Other information about Mr. Warawa was contained in last week's edition of The Progress. and one sister, Kathrine. Funeral was held Thursday at Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Abe Klassen officiating. Interment followed at Yarrow cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wes Janzen, George Heinrichs, Jake Hooge, Lawrence Janzen, George Hooge and David Pauls. Woodlawn Funeral Home Abbotsford, was in charge of arrangements. ELMA MEYER A member of the Senior Citizens Recreation Centre, Elma Elizabeth Meyer, 9265 Armitage Street, died December 24 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She was 76. Born in Glenallan, Manitoba, Mrs.

Meyer lived in Surrey before moving to Chilliwack four years ago. She was a homemaker. Budget figures are not final, it was pointed out by secretarytreasurer J.

D. Orr, could well be substantially changed before the final budget is adopted in March, 1977. Most of the budget figures are based on past expenditures, adjusted where changes are anticipated, or on budget estimates submitted by organizations and committees financed through the regional district. The provisional budget allows for some $800,000 worth of bank borrowings and debentures and $122,120 by way of total tax levies throughout the whole regional district. A $70,852 surplus has been forecast.
