Mrs. Malpas was an insurance agent and was the secretary of Chilliwack Insurance Association and a former member of Sorop-timist International of Chilliwack.

She was born in Saskatchewan and had lived in Chilliwack for 50 years. She is survived by her husband Dennis; her mother, Ann, Hannah, Chilliwack; one sister, Mrs. K. (Bernice) Carruthers, Cultus Lake; two brothers, Frank and Norman, both of Chilliwack. She was predeceased by her brother Keith in May, 1976.

Funeral was held Tuesday at Henderson's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Gorrie officiating. Cremation followed in Victory Memorial Park, Surrey. JAMES CURRIE A member of the IONIC Masonic Lodge No. 18, James Stewart Currie, 9090 Newman Road, died October 14 at Chilliwack General Hospital.

He was 84. Mr. Currie was born in Foresters Falls, Ontario, and had lived in Chilliwack for two and a half years. He formerly resided at Westbury Street, Abbotsford, and was a chiropractor. He is survived by two sisters, Beulah Brett, Chilliwack, Hannah Souch, Edmonton; one brother, Austin Currie, Chilliwack.

He was predeceased by his wife Ruby in September 1969. Funeral was held Tuesday at Henderson's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ji T. Horricks officiating. Cremation followed at Victory Memorial Park crematorium.

JOSEPH BOYLAN A member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 4, Joseph Leander Boylan, Suite 3, 5824 Vedder Road, Vedder Crossing, died October 13 at Chilliwack General Hospital. He was 57. Mr. Boylan was born in Kent-ville, Nova Scotia, and had lived in Vedder Crossing for 29 years. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in World War Two and in the Army Service Corps in the Korean War.

He was a mechanic. He is survived by two sons, Gary and Bob; three grandchildren and relations in Nova Scotia. Funeral was held Monday at Henderson's Funeral Chapel with Padre Gagnon and Padre Wilson Yates officiating. Interment followed in the Legion cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Simpson, Archie McLellan, Art Murray, Gus Upshaw, Cam Adams and Bob Gerrard.

Honorary pallbearers were Ben Mclntyre and Lloyd Fenton. DOROTHY JOHNSTON A former member of the Chilliwack chapter of IODE, Dorothy Phyllis Johnston died October 17 at Bradley Centre of Chilliwack General Hospital. She was 63. Mrs. Johnston taught voice and piano for many years and had lived in Chilliwack all her life.

Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark and Michael Hickman, Fred Berreth, Jerry Vetterl and Don and Warner Williams. MILDRED RENZ The president and founder of Chilliwack Weavers Guild and the president of Fraser Valley College Advisory Board, Mildred Mae Renz, 49645 Castleman Road, died October 12 at Chilliwack General Hospital. She was 45. Mrs.

Renz was the manager of Marie's Wool Shop. She was born in Chilliwack and attended Camp River School, Rosedale Elementary School and Chilliwack Junior Secondary School. She is survived by her husband Dick; two daughters, Mrs. D. (Mona) Sharman, Iran, Marie Mark, Chilliwack; two sons, Bruce and Douglas, both at home; one sister, Barbara Mowll, Surrey; two brothers, Reg and Ron Hamilton, Chilliwack, and her mother, Anne Hamilton, Chilliwack.

Funeral was held Saturday at Henderson's Funeral Chapel with Rev. B. B. Smyth officiating. Interment followed in the Legion cemetery.

Pallbearers were Henry Pranke, Danny Mowll, Pete Warkentin, Foster Burgner, Bob Mowll and Doran Sharman. HELEN ELDRED Former Chilliwack resident who worked extensively with Girl Guides, Helen Eldred, 10181 149th Street, Surrey, died September 30 at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster. She was 49. Mrs. Eldred was born in Gurnard, Isle of Wight, England, and came to Canada in 1958.

She lived in Chilliwack until 1963, when she moved to Surrey. She was an office clerk and worked for the ad- miralty during World War Two in England. She is survived by her mother, Doris Hayward, Surrey (formerly of Chilliwack); one daughter, Margaret Klammer, Surrey; one sister in England; two grandchildren. Memorial service was held October 4 at Surrey Alliance Church with Rev. W.

A. Brown officiating. Cremation followed. An elementary school in Colville, Saskatchewan, set out to raise 25 cents for each student and ended up with $1.20 per head and a total of $136 for the Unitarian Service Committee of Canada.
