Her 161 score put her in the championship flight for the women's amateur title but the 18 year old local was eliminated four and three in the second round of play by Marine Drive's Marilyn Palmer. Helen had defeated her old Ontario foe Andrea Stoddart two and one the day before to gain her place in the reduced field of 16. She was the only junior to progress that far in the match play eliminations.

Miss Palmer had just barely defeated Jan Allison on the 6,145 yard Moncton Golf and Country club course in the first round by sinking a five foot putt on the 18th green. Earlier, Miss Palmer had led the four woman B.C. team to its second straight victory in two years in the senior women's competition. SPECIAL OFFER 40' 100' Completely Erected.
