THE CHILLIWACK PROGRESS, Wednesday, February 2, 1972 3A Obituaries roup CPRC LAWRENCE SIDNEY REMPEL Born in Chilliwack on November 14, 1950, Lawrence Sidney Rempel died January 28 as the result of an automobile accident in Chilliwack. He graduated from Sardis Senior Secondary School in 1969. He was active in minor baseball and Chilliwack United soccer. He was also active in high school soccer, and baseball, and a former member of Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association. DALE K.

SJOGREN Formerly of Calgary and a resident of this district for four years, Dale Kenneth Sjogren died January 28 as the result of an automobile accident. Rev. R. W. Bray officiated at the funeral service Monday in Henderson's Funeral Chapel.

Interment was in IOOF cemetery. Active pallbearers were Rick Lawrence, Allan Olson, Tom Davies, John Verschur, Glen Johnston and Stew McGregor. Stewart Jones was an honorary Citizens' invited by Local citizens' committee wanting to play a part in planning the proposed multipurpose building in Chilliwack will be represented at an upcoming Civic Properties and Recreation Commission meeting. Citizens' Committee on Recreation Planning, co-chaired by James Leach and James Sinclair of Chilliwack, will be making a "statistical submission" to CPRC at its next meeting on February 16. Those local recreation groups wanting to add to the submission have been asked to attend the citizen group's next meeting at Evergreen Hall's Slesse Room on Monday evening.

MRS. M. J. CAMPBELL Member of Chilliwack Senior Citizens Association and Pentecostal Tabernacle, Mrs. Mary Jane Campbell, 120 Victoria Avenue West, died January 27 in Chilliwack General Hospital.

Rev. E. S. Martin officiated at the funeral service Monday in Henderson's Funeral Chapel. Interment was in IOOF cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fane Pol-ley, Ollie Enger, Herb Albert and Dick Schultz. Mrs. Campbell was born in De Clare, Manitoba, and lived in Edmonton before moving to Chilliwack 20 years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Herb (Mar-jorie) Albert, North Vancouver; Mrs.

Fane (Irene) Polley, Calgary; Mrs. Gordon (Geor-gina) Pretty, Edmonton; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. George (Ruby) McAuley, Birtie, Manitoba; Mrs. Harvey (Dorothy) Pangman, McCon-nell, Mantoba. MRS.

DORA EDWARDS Following a brief illness, Mrs. Dora Emily Edwards, 46530 Brooks Avenue, died January 27 in Chilliwack General Hospital. Deaconess Miss Colleen Erb officiated at the funeral service Monday in Henderson's Funeral Chapel. Cremation followed. Mrs.

Edwards was a past matron and life member of St. Hilda's Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in Didsbury, Alberta, and member of the Past Matrons' Club, OES, Chilliwack. She was also a member of Chilliwack Senior Recreation Centre and with her husband David, celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 1968. Mrs. Edwards was born on November 9, 1895, in Kilar-ney, Manitoba, and lived in Didsbury and Calgary before moving to Chilliwack four years ago.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Edwards is survived by one daughter, Mrs. N. W. (Lois) Reynolds, Edmonton; three sons, John, Chilliwack; Donald, Calgary; William, Toronto; seven grandchildren, one great grandson and one sister, Mrs.

CHIEF T. N. KELLY Chief of Soowhalie Indian Reserve, Thomas Norman Kelly died January 24 in Fort Nelson, British Coulmbia, in a logging accident. He had been at Fort Nelson for three weeks. He was born, on January 15, 1924, and raised on the Soowhalie Reserve, Cultus Lake.

He was a truck driver. Clergy of St. Mary's Church were celebrants at the funeral service yesterday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment was in Soowhalie Reserve cemetery.

Mr. Rempel is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rempel, 45648 Storey Avenue, Sardis; one sister, Maureen, at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Jake Neufeldt, Yarrow; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Rempel, Greendale. MRS. MARY DERKSEN Former resident of North Battleford and Rosthern in Saskatchewan, Mrs.

Mary Derksen, Suite 104, 120 Victoria Avenue West, died January 29 in Chilliwack General Hospital. Rev. Peter Unger, assisted by Rev. George Peters, officiated at the funeral service yesterday in Henderson's Funeral Chapel. Interment was in IOOF cemetery.

Pallbearers were Henry Neustadter, Dave Falk, Jake Krahn, Abe Warkentin, Jake Harder and Peter Klassen. Mrs. Derksen was born on February 15, 1893, in Shor-tize, Russia. She was a member of Chilliwack First Men-nonite Church. Mrs.

Derksen is survived by her husband Jacob; one son, Jake, Chilliwack; two sisters, Mrs. H. (Helen) Neustadter, Chilliwack; Mrs. E. (Anna) Peters, Winnipeg.

She was predeceased by three brothers. Charges of possession of illegal drugs has resulted in a Chilliwack district man being fined $300 in Monday's session of provincial court, Chilliwack. Sentence was passed by Judge T. W. Meagher.

Richard Burtenshaw of 63 Cowichan Place, Vedder Crossing was fined $150 in default seven days after he pleaded guilty to possession of LSD. On a charge of possession of MDA, he pleaded guilty and was fined $150 in default seven days. Joseph Gabriel Dube and his wife Margaret, formerly of 49064 Yale Road East pleaded guilty to a charge of theft under $50 from a local store. Mr. Dube was fined $50 in default five days and Mrs.

Dube was given a suspended sentence and was placed on probation. Leonard Joseph Janicki of 2982 Carolina Street, Vancouver was fined $100 in default five tlays after he pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent exposure in a public place. Richard Raymond Gourley of 4209 Stewart Road, Yarrow received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation for one year after he pleaded guilty to theft under $50 from a local store. James Raymond Blair of Jlteir 2 Harold Peters of P.O. box 161, Seabird Island was fined $250 in default five days and was prohibited from driving for one month from 7 p.m.

DANIEL FRANCIS Resident of the Fraser Valley all his life, Daniel Francis died January 22 in Mount St. Joseph Hospital, Vancouver. He was born on April 29, 1894, in Chehalis and lived there and in Mission before moving to Seabird Island four years ago.

He was an engineer. Father J. Massel officiated at the funeral service yesterday in Immaculate Conception Church, Seabird Island. Interment was in Seabird Island Reserve cemetery. Active pallbearers were Norm Francis, Danny Francis, Ivan Francis, Vince Francis, Chris Francis and Herman Bobb.

Honorary pallbearers were Murray Francis, Wilfred Campbell, Rickey Campbell, Eddy Campbell, Larry Point, Arnold Francis, Bobby Francis, William Pettis, Allen Mc-Intyre, Archie Charles, Don Harris, Peter Charlie and Freddy Paul.
