Mayor Holder was one of 65 elected officials from all over the country who attended the course from January 20-23. Course was sponsored by the federal government. At Monday night's meeting of council he said the main idea of the conference was to point out the "great responsibility" of elected officials at the time of a disaster.

After returning to Chilliwack he contacted the local emergency measures co-ordinator and was informed the existing emergency measures plan is being up-dated and it is expected it will be a model plan for the whole province. In summing up, Mayor Holder stated "I learned a great deal at the course." 1966 VOLKS "1500" Family Bus Low miles, new rubber, nice. $1995 1966 VOLKS "1500" Sun Roof Bus Converted to Camper. $1995 THIS SCENE was duplicated in many parts of the district. In further explaining possible problems created by the phasing out of the LMRPB, Mayor Holder said "there is a fair possibility that each regional district will be responsible for the termination of contracts for the members of the board this could run into a fair chunk of money." Alderman Daubney stated "the provincial government should pick up the left-over tabs, it was their idea to break up the board." Mayor Holder once again pointed out that it was not the intention of the regional district to accumulate the money and then spend it immediately. "We did not intend to spend it until we knew exactly where we stood." In concluding the discussion he said "I will take your objections up at the next meeting of the board." Strong argument against a proposed levy by the regional district for planning purposes, was presented to city council Monday night.

1 Alderman Ray Daubney told council "I think the 10 cent per capita figure is too high until we get some assurance about what is going to happen." He suggested a more reasonable figure for the time being would be 5.5 cents per capita, which was the levy for planning by the Lower Mainland Regional Planning Board last year. Mayor A. B. Holder, council's representative on the Fraser Cheam regional district board, replied, "it does not mean that the full amount is going to be spent." Alderman Daubney remarked "then let's leave it in our coffers, the levy should be left the same as last year until we see what planning we will be involved in and what the provincial government is going to give us.
