The Chilliwack Dramatic Society urge upon those who are to take part in "What Happened to Jones" to attend all future rehearsals which will be held on Wednesday and Friday evenings of each week at 8:30 o'clock sharp. Wright. J. G. Mutch and John Montgomery, were among the Vancouver visitors who were registered at the Empress Hotel last week. Mr.

Isaac Kipp has returned from spending a two weeks' visit with friends in Vancouver. He returned by way of the river steamer from New Westminster to Chilliwack. On his journey up the river he marvelled on the many changes having taken place since he first made the trip in 1862. In that year Mr. Klpp first set foot in Chilliwack and has the distinction of being the first white man to do that.

lie has since that year been a constant resident, and has shared in the ups and downs of the Valley's progress. The first trip up the river was made In an Indian canoe and no sign of settlement of any kind was to be seen on either shore. Today the sixty miles of river front on both sides Is settled and the mark of progress distinctly showing. L. R.

C. Telephone Company are endeavoring to lay a submarine table across the Fraser River between Rosedale and Agassiz, which will give the latter place the advantages of the long distance service. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Duthie, nurse and children returned last week from a month's visit at the coast.

Isaac Stringer, bishop of the Yukon, was in the Valley a couple of days last week visiting his brother, George, Westminster street. The Uishop is recently from the Yukon and spending a few, days at the Coast before his return. Bishop Stringer is one of the most widely known men of the Canadian west and north, being perhaps one of the best authorities Canada has on the geographical and topographical questions of the far north. As a missionary he was the first white man to penetrate to the Arctic circle and the mouth of the McKenzie river, being lor months at a time on Herschel Island and a year without mail service. He will be remembered by all by his more recent experience in travelling through the North Yukon, and his return alive to civilization, by subsisting upon rawhide moccasins when all other food had been exhausted.
