At least three high powered ice battles took place, and reports of the final outcomes of the Titanic clashes are somewhat at variance.

From H. H. Gallagher, Hope maestro, we learn that a squad of Hope and B. C. Nickel Mines boys took Chilliwack by 5 goals to 3 in a good game.

McConnell with three tallies and Clint George with two were leading the home team in its victory march, while Roddy Watt and Mashall McLeod were most effective for Chilliwack. Manager Latimer, of the local crew, admits that like his news paper friends, he is not an early riser, and in consequence was a bit late getting to the game. He played in it, but doesn't know what the score was when he started, so isn't sure whether the boys won or lost. Two of his players called the game a 4 4 tie, rather than the 5 3 score Mr. Gallagher set.

In a tussle with players from Hope alone, Chilliwack won 1 0 according to Mr. Gallagher, and 2 0 according to Mr. Latimer. Against B. C.

Nickel Mines, the Gallagher score is 2 0 and the Latimer score 4 0. Whatever the results may have been, everybody enjoyed an excellent day's fun, and reports from all concerned are that some really big time hockey was dished up. Hughie Stewart of Hope kept goal for Chilliwack, and the local boys performing were Art Menzies, Sonny Berry, Ernie Roberts, Kelly HarKer, Roddy Watt, Marshall McLeod, Atkins, Cliff Latimer, Ronnie Jackson, and Harold Eversfield. Series Set Back Opening games of the Fraser Valley Basketball League finals for senior and intermediate A teams scheduled for Mission Saturday nigtu, were postponed due to the inclement weather. Sardis teams were prepared to make the trip, but Mission officials advised the postponement.

By long distance telephone Wednesday morning, Mission officials asked for games the same evening, and the two Sardis teams made the trip to the north side for the post poned games. The second games the series will be played in bardis Wednesday next. For the visitors are just about the flashiest thing it is possible to get onto a basketball floor. When they started their ninth season on the road this year they had played a total of 1,128 games to date, won 1,034 of them, with only 94 defeats in nine years against them. They once turned in 1 victories in a period of 94 days, which is not such a dusty ball tossing record.

It Looks Smart Just what has 'Cop" Foster done this time? In lining up a bout with Tony Canzonrri in May, Jimmy Mc Larnin's foxy old mentor has cer tainly added considerable to the bankroll of the McLarnin Foster company. An Italian and an Irish man in IScw York can fail to draw a good house, and as the boys are in boxing for the money, all hands should enjoy the battle to the financial full. From a boxing standpoint, Pop's move is also a fast one. Jimmy hasn't fought since his bout with Barney Koss last year, and the layoff may have slowed him up considerably. Going in against Ross wouldn't be such a smart move.

Against Canzoneri, nearly ten pounds lighter, several years older, and not a particularly sturdy puncher, Jimmy can get an excellent line on his ability to take Ross again, without risking his head quite so much. The Canzoneri bout should serve to put him in excellent shape for another crack at the welterweight crown, and a decisive victory in his bout with Tony would again establish McLarnin as the ranking attraction with Ross. His somewhat lengthy absence from the ring has caused doubt in many minds as to his ability to take the welter king, and perhaps even Foster and McLarnin themselves want to see what happens in this Canzoneri go before tackling the man who twice robbed Jimmy of a world's title. Any way you look at it, Foster's move in taking the Canzoneri scrap looks smart. To Try Again T.

O. M. Sopwith, British sportsman, is going to challenge again for the America's Cup. The man whose Endeavor engaged in such a stormy series in the last challenge round has reconsidered his originid decision not to race again, and once more will take up the quest that engaged the late Sir Thomas Lipton for so long. Sopwith's first challenge proved that he will need a professional crew to cope with the American defenders.

His youthful British sportsmen were sailing the better boat, but they failed to match the seamanship of the defenders. Tuking It Seriously They are going in for their basketball playoff training with a vengeance at Chilliwack High School. Two additional baskets have been installed on the sides of the big auditorium floor, and in practice sessions now four balls can be kept in operation at once, practically doubling the shooting time of each player during a normal practice session. Thos. Byrne, generalissimo of the C.

H. S. hoop department, is credited with the bright idea, which should aid the blue and gold teams in their preparation for the interleague playoffs. Hookey la King Don't pass this on to any of the pedagogues of the city, but we overheard two of the younger gen eration discussing the possibilities of absenting themselves from school for an afternoon recently, in order to go skating. A recent graduate of a local institution of learning agreed to Join their party, and when plans were being wound up one of them said to him: "See if your dad will loan you the car, will you? It's a two mile walk out to that pond." There's no denying it, the present generation is slipping.

Even in our not so far distant youth, one played "hookey" from school without worrying about the problem of transportation This and That Jack Carroll, Australian welterweight champion, defeated Bep Van Klavcren, the "Flying Dutchman," on points in a 15 round bout in Sydney recently. Botn were placed ahead of Jimmy McLarnin in King's 1936 rankings a lew weeks ago. The good folk of Germany, under the nose of Herr Hitler, couldn't show any liking for the American Winter Games team when the Nazi boss "tossed the first ball" last week. America's roar about Jewish athletes hasn't made the Yanks popular In Germany. Word from Australia is that Tod Morgan, former junior lightweight champion, has retired from active boxing and will reside in Australia in future.

Morgan will be remembered in Chilliwack for his flashy exhibitions here some years ago. Despatches say he injured an elbow so severely that future boxing is out of the question. Lewis Outroughed Ed. "Strangler" Lewis, former heavyweight wrestling champion of the world, lost in five rounds to Tiger Daula, Hindu grappler, in Vancouver Friday before 5,000 spectators. When Will Athletics Get Under Way? The 1936 baseball season got off to an early start last week when the first contingent of the Cincinnati Reds of the National League left for Puerto Rico for spring training.

Manager Chuck Dressen evidently believes that his team's "iinces will enhanced by prompt commencement of training. ddittonal Sport on Page 5 How Bummy DoK VT: Here's an action shot of "Bunny" Leavitt, the world's champion free throw expert who shows at Sardis Community hall Friday evening with the New York Harlem Globe Trotters. His golf costs him 38 'i cents per week throughout the year (at Meadowlands). Her golf costs her less than 29 cents per week.

Remember: Green fee players can at any time take up the annual fee, paying by installments, and be credited in full with green fees already paid, by keeping their green fee tickets, which are ns good as cash. S. Split Double Kill With Mission Chilliwack High School basket ball teams won and lost in a recent Mission invasion. The junior boys took the measure of the home team 45 39, but Chilliwack girls went under by a 27 17 count.
