After bountiful supper had besn served in the lecture room the audience adjourn ed to the church where an excellent program of songs, recitations, choruses, and addresses was rendered. Everything went with a swing though the musical part of the program was some what marred by the eccentricities of the organ which was evidently suffering from a severe attack of the prevalent malady, La Grippe. The entertainment came to an end shortly after ten o'clock and all weut to their homes, tired but happy. Annual Methodist Dinner.

Xmas treet entertainment in Heuderson's Hall, on Monday even Ing. At 5 o'clock upwards ol 70 children sat down to tea, Then from 0 to 8 o'olock grown up people showed that they had not forgotten the art of enjoying a good meal. Altogether it was a happy company. A stranger, coming in, must have been struck with the uni versal good nature and rMijrej' mnnUestedU.aj.'iakSng. At about 8 o'clock, the pastor, Rev.

J. Knox Wright, B.D., took tbe chair and presented the program, which we give below. Every part was well rendered. The little folks, notwithstanding excitement and timidity, acquitted themselves very creditably. Special mention must be made of the choruses sung by the whole school, particularly the one entitled "Our Marching Orders." The marching, with waving banners, was very well done.

At the close of the program the tree showered down its gifts which were very pretty and suitable. It is to be regretted however that the foolish custom of making use of a Xiuas tree for perpetrating senseless jokes was indulged in by some irresponsible purt iesunknown to andccrtainlydisapprov ed by school and eongregatioa. J. L. Denholm. About six o'clock the guests began to assemble, none happier or more inter ested thaa the ehildren, who came with their young hearts full of Xmas cheer. Refreshments of rare taste and excel lence were served in tbe hostess' well kuown good style, after which the folding doors between the dining reom and parlor were opened, revealing to tbe children and parents a magnificent Xmas tree, beautifully trimmed with tissue paper and lighted wax candles.

The tree fairly groaned beneath its load handsome, useful and valuable presents for both children and parents. Mr. Bent res.d a very nice letter from Santa Claus regretting bis inability to be present as he was suffering from a severe attack of la grippe, but hoped te be witb them next year. This unexpected announcement somewhat disappointed the little ones, but when Mr. Bent and his assistants began to distribute tbe presents, they were enraptured and full expectancy, the scene of merriment being at the highest notch, and beyond description.

This over, a very neat address by Mr. Beut and some popular songs by Mr. Aubray Rounsefnll brought the entertainment to a close. A. F.
