An Ottawa despatch states thsit the Hon. Mr. Pelletier ha3 decided to Increase this to $50 a year. Repeated representations were made to the eld government on behaif 'of the rural postmasters, but were ignored. Since assuming office Mr.

Pelleitier has done much towards Improving the postal service and at the same time has also improved the conditions of the employees in the work by increasing the salaries of the letter carriers and the railway mail clerks.
