If the deal goes through the calves will be used for two calf clubs in the interior.

A calf club in the Delta area is also seeking grade Guernseys, Mr. German reports. One of the difficulties in supplying is a comparative scarcity of good Guernsey heifer calves in this area, he states. i Grade Jersey Brings $137.50 A three year old grade Jersey from the herd of J. J.

Junior of Commerce Hugh Garlmg'8r discussion tm the "Oriental Penetration" shared the spotlight at Monday night's meeting of the Junior Chamber of Commerce plans for the forthcoming" convention and the introduction of new members.

Dr. G. F. R. Barton, Donald Campbell, Noel Butchart, Desmond Murray and Clarence Carroll were introduced as new members.

Mel Stevenson, New Westminster Junior board, was a guest. Hugh Garling and Ross Bowlby were named official delegates to the convention. Neill MacGregor and Ernest Roberts were appointed delegates. Ward Sharp and a committee of two will bring in a recommendation for district councillor. A tentative convention program was outlined by Ted Hodson.

The schedule calls for three business sessions Friday, May 23, and Sat urday, May 24 a civic luncheon on Friday and a luncheon sponsored by the Board of Trade and the municipality Saturday; a dance each night and a visit to the Hass Hop company yards. Urges Sportsmen To Shoot Crows Rules Changed For Annual Competition Regulations and advantages of the annual Fish and Game association crow shoot were outlined this week by Ernest R. Willis, chairman of the crow shoot committee. Mr. Willis reports that crow feet received up to June 1 will count three points, while feet will count two points and young crows and eggs one point up to the end of June. Hunters are being encour aged to shoot more old crows in this way, he states.

The Fish and Game association and the municipal council have donated $25 for prizes. The fewer crows, the greater the number of song birds, and the more song birds the fewer insect pests, Mr. Willis points out. "Song birds have Increased won derfully since the crows have been kept under control in the Valley. Last year the army worm disap peared due to the work of the Bullock oriole which has made its appearance in the last few years," Mr.

Willis states. Local Retail Pork Prices Increase Food prices jumped in a number of lines in Chilliwack this week, most spectacular being a rise of from one to three cents per pound on all pork products. Not only are dressed pork, bacon and hams up in price, but even processed meats having a percentage of pork con tent have advanced. Cause of the rise is believed to be the bacon board's recent deci sion to boost hog prices in order to keep Canadian bacon from going to the U. S.

where prices are higher and to make it available for filling Canada's export commitments to Great Britain. A number of grocery items also jumped, and food store men intim ate that the consumer will just have to "become accustomed to seeing things go up." Horse Sale Results Eighteen horses put up for sale by James Fowlie, Calgary, av eraged $87 at a sale held Wednesday by J. B. Dennis. Top price was $144 for a five year old gelding.

A team of blacks, four years old, brought $122.50. A five year old bay sold for $127 and a four year old sold for $111. Milk Settling Rate Decreases The Fraser Valley Milk Producers association settling rate will take a three cent seasonal drop next month to 42 cents f.o.b. Van couver. The net return to Chilliwack members will be approxl mately 37 cents.

The decreased rate is due largely to the start of the summer milk flow. However, the new rate considerably above that which prevailed at the same time last year. Early Cherry' Crop Light Horticulturists an home owners count a few cherry trees among their assets' report that this year's cherry crop will be light and early particularly the early varieties. Some of the popular early varieties show a very light set. Sour or pie cherries promlae a heavy yield.

Prunes are also a light crop, but pears and late apples will be heavy, according to present indications. Spring and summer are times for color fresh, gay shades predominate Your car will look better, too, with a new paint job. Brighten it up now, and add years to its appearance.
