Local Guests Attend Parties Former Chilliwack residents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Trethewey of Windermere, were guests of honor when their family entertained for them to mark their golden wedding anniversary. Among those attending the events in Windermere were Mr. Trethewey's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McDaniel of Chilliwack, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morrow, Agassiz. Mr. Trethewey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Trethewey, was born on Nicomen Island. His wife, the former Rosie Gilbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gilbert, was born in RosedaJe. They were married on January 1, 1913, in Chilliwack United Church by the Rev. A. E. Roberts and moved to Windermere from Abbotsford 36 years ago. They have six children, 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Thirty-eight persons attended a family luncheon to mark the occasion. Open house was held in the afternoon and evening at the Trethewey home and a family supper party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Trethewey. Among the many messages received was a phone call from Mrs. Trethewey's sister, Mrs. A. Davidson of Rose-dale. Utopia was the imaginary island described by Sir Thomas More in which conditions of life and government were perfect.
